How to sew a toilet roll holder

This easy sew project makes a nice bathroom accessory or gift for a house proud friend! It can also be finished in under an hour!

You will need:

  • Fabric for the lining
  • Fabric for the outside
  • Thin wadding
  • Fabric ties
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • A toilet roll
  • An iron

Use the toilet roll to measure out a rectangular pattern piece and add a 1cm seam allowance around the edge.

Cut out a rectangle from the lining and the outer fabric. The inner wadding needs to be 1cm smaller than the outer pieces. Cut out 4 fabric ties to attach the toilet roll to the toilet roll holder.

Put the outer and inner fabric with right sides together. Place the ties inside and pin them so they get caught in. Make sure they are facing inwards. Leave one of the short sides open.

Cut off the corners and put the wadding in through the open end.

Turn the open edges under and iron them 1cm under. Pin the ties in place.

Sew the ends together.

Sew the two edges together to make a circular tube.

Et voilà! Put your toilet roll inside and attach it to your toilet roll holder.
