This is a great quick sew, using a cool fabric like this batik print will make your coasters look really modern. There are also quilting variations that you can use which I will discuss later.

For this quick sew you will need:
- Fabric cut into 12cm squares
- Thin wadding cut into 10cm squares.
- Colourful cotton
- Scissors
- Pins
You can use a sewing machine or hand sew, I used a sewing machine as I am allergic to hand sewing!
Step one
First of all, pin two squares with right sides together and stitch around three sides.

Step two
Cut off the corners and place wadding in the middle so that you can turn it through.

Step three
Turn it through, poke the corners out and then turn the open flap under by 0.5cm, trim wadding if it gets in the way. Pin to secure.

Step four
Then sew around the edges lining up with the edge of your machine foot for a 0.5cm border.

Now for the fun bit!
Step five
You can quilt as much or as little as you want โ you just need to make sure your wadding is secure and wonโt move around or bunch up.
I sewedย a cross to make sure this didnโt happen and then I put parallel lines on as below, lining them up with the cross that I created.

Et voilร ! Make as many as you like and tie them into bundles as gifts if youโre feeling generous! ๐

You can make several different versions, using this method.

Make each one as individual as you like, or make a set.

If youโre giving them as a gift, or want to store them, then tie a ribbon around them or put them in a mesh bag.

Let me know if you make a quilted coaster for yourself!
